The Community Division of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry is inviting applications for a full-time position in the Department of Psychiatry within ambulatory services for a Spanish language psychiatrist, with additional opportunity for. support of teaching and scholarship around working with Spanish language patient population. The position can carry a faculty rank of Senior Instructor or higher based on clinical experience or expertise. We are recruiting for a candidate with outstanding clinical and supervisory skills to join our Community Psychiatry Division as a member of our unique Lazos Fuertes outpatient team of bilingual clinicians serving the Latino community of Rochester, NY.
Lazos Fuertes is the only bilingual mental health service in upstate NY, likely the only one outside of the NYC area, caring for the mental health of its Latino community. Lazos Fuertes delivers culturally competent mental health care through a team of bilingual mental health providers and support personnel through evidence-based approaches. It is a unique setting that is of critical importance to Rochester’s Latinos. The clinic is host to a strong psychology internship program and is clinical site for two bilingual interns per year. The clinic has helped train many other learners inclusive of psychiatry residents, master’s level Social Workers, Marriage and Family trainees and medical students.
Clinical responsibilities include providing psychopharmacology intakes and follow up as well as acute care for this patient population through a culturally attuned multidisciplinary team paradigm. The physician will also be responsible for managing and supervising medical students and psychiatric residents on elective rotations.
The physician will be based at our outpatient clinic site in the city of Rochester. They will be expected to lead and guide a team of multidisciplinary and bilingual mental health clinicians depending on experience, through team approach clinical supervision in collaboration with the team psychologist.
The psychiatrist will have a primary appointment with the Department of Psychiatry. We encourage applicants with leadership skills and/or research interests in health care disparities to apply.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Board certified/ board eligible in Adult Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
2. Active NYS license
3. Active DEA certification
4. Be a qualified bilingual clinician in Spanish

Compensation includes an excellent, nationally competitive base salary, with bonus/moonlighting opportunities, loan forgiveness program, annual CME allotment, and a generous benefits package through the University with a retirement program and tuition benefits.
Sr. Instructor $209,000 - $260,264; Assistant Professor $221,350 - $287,611; Associate Professor $243,200 - $315,271
