Hotel Operations PreApprenticeship

General Overview

This opportunity requires 200 Hours of commitment. This is for someone who is thinking about pursuing a career in hospitality and is ready for an opportunity to learn more about the industry.

During your 200 Hours of service, you will accomplish the following:

- Exposure to every facet and department we have at our hotel. You will shadow the leaders in every department and work alongside our award-winning team.

- ServSafe Food Saftey Certification (Hotel Leadership Candidates)

- Guest Service Certification (Hotel Leadership and Maintenance Candidates)

- NSPF CPO Certification (Maintenance Candidates)

Qualifications:

• You are 16 yrs or older. High school students are welcome to apply. We can work around your class and exam schedules.
• MUST BE ABLE TO PASS DRUG TEST & BACKGROUND CHECK!!*

Compensation:

• $10.00/hr

Work Environment and Scheduling

• Your main site will be at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Boone, NC.
• Your schedule will vary depending on the department you are currently shadowing in.
• Opportunities to visit other properties and participate in community outreach throughout the high country

Program Pathway:

- (16 Hours Hilton Training) You will train online with Hilton Worldwide University to give you a foundation in hotel history and brand knowledge

- (16 Hours Laundry) You will train as a laundry attendant. You will learn about "heart of house" operations and shadow our Operations and Laundry Supervisor

- (16 Hours Maintenance) You will learn about our preventative maintenance process and shadow our Cheif Engineer

- (16 Hours Breakfast) You will learn food service and guest service and will shadow our Director of Operations and Guest Services Liason.

- (40 Hours Housekeeping) You will train on room cleaning and learn how to inspect rooms, and shadow our Executive Housekeeper

- (40 Hours Front Desk) You will learn about front-of-house operations. You will train on setting up for VIP arrivals, special occasion rooms, checking in, and checking out guests. You will shadow our Guest Services Managers and Supervisors.

- (16 Hours Sales) You will learn about our sales process and shadow our Sales Manager. You will be given an opportunity to help set up for an event and/or accompany them on a site visit locally.

- (16 Hours Leadership) You will learn about business administration and hotel leadership, and you will shadow our General Manager.

- (8 Hours Manager on Duty Shadow) You will shadow our Manager on Duty on a busy Friday night. You will have an opportunity to meet our audit team and see what goes into managing a busy hotel in the evening and ending the business day somewhere that never closes

- (8 Hours Community Exposure and Networking) You will accompany a member of our leadership team to Community Events and board service work

- (8 Hours Education and Exposure) You will also have an opportunity to meet with students and professors and tour the hospitality programs at CCCTI and Appalachian State University. If the semester is in session, you will accompany our General Manager and shadow her class at CCCTI.

- Mentoring for Your Future: We will assist you with resume and cover letter skills. Make sure you have built a firm foundation of recommendations and are ready for your next step, making you a VERY competitive candidate for your education and job goals in the future.
