Manager, Settlements & Gas Volume Actualization Houston, Texas
My client, a retail natural gas marketing and logistics company who works with producers and suppliers and other key industry participants to deliver reliable and innovative energy solutions, has engaged us to identify a Manager of Settlements and Gas Volume Actualization. This is a well-known, respected, and proven industry player primed for continued growth.
Job Summary
- Ensures accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of gas volumes and related cost and revenue transactions.
- Develops standard reports for internal and external stakeholders in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manages revenue and cost records, oversees settlement of supply and delivery transactions, and ensures contractual alignment of invoices.
- Supervises verification of gas supply and transportation invoices, handling discrepancies with counterparties and customers.
- Monitors and coordinates monthly data balancing and estimate-to-actual reconciliations.
- Collects and processes customer usage files, verifying storage statements, volumes, and pricing for accurate invoicing and revenue records.
- Oversees reconciliation processes and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve volume and pricing issues.
- Ensures compliance with SOX requirements by managing financial documentation and supporting audits.
- Directs AR/AP schedules, reports, and variance analyses in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Leads projects for system automation, process reengineering, and implementation of new requirements.
- Cultivates strong customer relationships, addressing and resolving escalated issues.
- Manages and mentors team analysts to optimize technical and soft skills for operational efficiency.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, finance, or business.
- Minimum of 7 years of full-time experience in gas accounting, revenue accounting, or a related gas industry field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (advanced formulas and workbooks).
- Preferred experience with Openlink Endur ETRM, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and compliance with SOX.
- Proficient in financial and statistical analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with a wide range of audiences.
- Capable of quick data assimilation for timely decision-making.
- Able to lead project teams, coordinate activities, and achieve successful outcomes.
- Experience in mentoring and training analysts, promoting skill development and operational excellence.
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects, and meeting tight deadlines in a high-volume workload.
- Adaptable to new environments and technologies, maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and issues.
- Committed to ethical conduct, compliance with laws and company policies, and respectful interaction with all individuals.
- Willing to work in a fast-paced office setting with potential for extended hours to meet deadlines
