80 hours per pay period - benefits depend on hours worked.

Job Description

Performs abstracting and coding of inpatient and outpatient records under the supervision of the Manager. Works with physicians to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation in order to code diagnoses and procedures. May abstract, report, and maintain files for the Illinois State Cancer Registry. Patient privacy is very important and as an employee you are required to protect the privacy and confidentiality of our patients’ information. Access to protected health information is limited to the minimum necessary to perform the duties of the job.

Certification

• CPC, CCS or coding credential equivalent required.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Computer experience is required.
• Prior coding experience is preferred.
