Role Overview:

Technology Summer Interns join us for 11 weeks in our Philadelphia office. You will have an opportunity to explore potential career paths while working on real-life projects across supporting the Group Benefits Solutions Technology organization and gain the valuable experience essential for you to take the next step in starting your career. What You’ll Do:

Engineering interns will support on one of our agile release trains and will focus on either: Performance and Quality, Software Development, or AWS Cloud Operations Engineering

 

Role: Performance and Quality Engineer 

Description :

The Performance and Quality Engineer supports the agile release train ensuring quality code delivery which meet business acceptance criteria. The intern will support the system testing team through documentation of performance test activities, learn industry standards, and assist with scripts execution. Through this experience they will gain valuable experience with agile delivery methodology and system testing.

 

Role: Development Engineer

Description :

The Development Engineer will support the lead system architect in an agile release train. Activities may include:

  • Align with system architect on GBS engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with System Architect to provide input into system design and development approach
  • Participate in problem management during initial phases (warranty period) after project implementation
  • Partner with product owners to understand user story acceptance criteria and to provide accurate story point estimations and sizing
  • Coordinate code reviews prior to source control merge requests
  • Review static code analysis and security reports and provides guidance to team members to address findings and works with product owners and scrum masters on corresponding PI/sprint plan adjustments
  • Participate in creation and maintenance of Confluence pages to share information about products produced by the team
  • Support code packaging and deployment strategy for a given initiative
  • Support scrum team in warranty defect triage sessions

 

Role: AWS Cloud Operations Engineer 

Description :

The AWS Cloud Operations Engineer will support the lead site reliability engineer in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of AWS-based cloud infrastructure, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and other AWS services. Activities may include:

  • Monitor the performance, availability, and se curity of cloud systems and applications.
  • Help implement and maintain cloud automation scripts (e.g., using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar tools).
  • Collaborate with the DevOps and Cloud Operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Assist in configuring and managing cloud monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., AWS CloudWatch).
  • Participate in cloud resource provisioning, cost optimization, and performance tuning activities.
  • Support the documentation of processes, configurations, and best practices for cloud infrastructure management.
  • Participate in cloud security audits, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to various cloud operations projects, gaining exposure to enterprise-level cloud solutions.

Required Skills :

You must be a rising senior or graduate student studying towards a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Cyber Security or other related major with a keen interest in the financial services industry, along with documenting IT solution requirements (business, functional and/or technical), and strong technical knowledge.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • You have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.

Pay Transparency

Salary range:  $30 - $35 / hour  

Overtime eligible:   Nonexempt  

Discretionary bonus eligible:   No  

Sales bonus eligible:   No  

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
